OBITUARY – Live… Under The Darkening Light – Netherlands ‘91 CD

Obituary’s Slowly We Rot is considered by many to be one of Death Metal’s finest debuts and albums overall. Yet the band’s 1990 sophomore is held in such regard among fans that it is arguably ranked (at least) as high as its predecessor. Furthermore, up to their first break up in 1997, «Cause Of Death» was the only album OBITUARY wrote without the talents of main composer and guitarist Allen West. None other than James Murphy - former DEATH guitar player - was recruited to fill West’s shoes until his eventual return in late 1991. The record’s promotional tour started in North America, in late 1990 and, during the spring of the following year, the band began the European leg of the Cause Of Death Tour, alongside MORGOTH and DEMOLITION HAMMER.

This record contains one of the five shows the group played in the Netherlands in 1991. And by giving it a spin, anyone can easily understand why OBITUARY became one of the top Death Metal bands worldwide in such a short amount of time.

Recorded at Paard van Troje, The Hague, Netherlands (May 14th, 1991)
